(Etsy)

(Continuing from my last post, I’ve been sharing a lot of my art on etsy lately. Mainly pretty small things, because then they don’t have to be that expensive but it can still be an original piece. I want to write some sort of essay about that – on the merits of original art, simply because I believe there is power and beauty in that kind of shared creativity. I don’t know exactly why or how though, so I want to figure it out for myself to tell it better to others. Anyway, here’s a link.)

My Etsy Shop!!

So I have started an Etsy shop to sell my art. I’ve wanted to do this for the longest time, I even had a shop one many years ago, when me and a friend learnt to make jewelry. It’s a nerve wracking kind of thing, where you don’t know how things will turn out or if you’ll get any sales. But frankly I don’t even have space for the things I paint anymore and life is better when you try to do the things you want to do. Check it out here!!

Art and Stuff in Vienna

We spent approximately 30 hours in Vienna. And during that time we very spontaneously visited the Albertina museum, which kind of exceeded expectations.

First: this hipster picture I’m very proud of.

Next: some of the art. This one is called black on black. I’m not kidding.

And here we have some water lilies by Monet. When I was a kid I read a book about this. About a little girl with the same name as me, who travelled with her grandfather to Paris to see Monets water lilies. I was thinking about that story as we looked at this and it was a tiny bit surreal.

And here are some of Degas ballet dancers (I’m trying to make it sound like I know what I’m talking about), a painting by Matisse, and then a few others I don’t really know anything about but they look nice.

Oh, and this one’s by Picasso:

Wow. And to finish it off, some van Gogh. (I like the sketch, it feels a bit more personal than a well thought out painting).

Even though that’s nice too.

Summer keeps slipping away from me, running through my fingers in a blur of laughter and sun. sand has ended up in the corners in my room and I’ve gotten more freckles than I can count and for once I have time to do what I actually want to do, but also time to feel guilty about not doing it. About getting stuck in front of the computer instead of reading in the sun and checking out the new tv shows instead of going long boarding. I love the clear sky but long for rain and the excuse to stay inside. What I upload here though, are pictures of actual summer, the things that my soul loves, that my heart breathes, that fight to make me see more than myself and every now and then find their way beneath my skin.
