This is the first in a series of paintings that I’ve made on book paper. The book is one that I bought second hand in Germany, and it’s about plants and natural remedies (well, as far as I can understand).
This painting is “ein Herz”, a heart, with small flowers growing out of it and the word “ein” in the middle, for wholeheartedness.

I’ve been making even more sky painting lately, because it grounds me somehow. When I get better at it I want to make bigger ones and make a full on exhibition, name it On the nature of daylight, after one of my favourite songs.
Here are some round ones I’m experimenting with.

A documentation of the sky. This is my new diary, a documentation of different skies – although it’s the same sky, I suppose, like Monet’s water lilies. Painted in different seasons and different light.
I want to put them in a little case because they’re becoming too many, carry them with me. Maybe put them in a journal, one on each page.

(midnight inspiration)

Step 1: Feel the insecurities well up inside when you realise you have no idea how to continue your painting. You’re kind of happy with it and feel like it can only go downhill from here. You’re generally bad at finishing things.
Step 2: Edit a photo of your painting, so you can see what different ways of continuing would look like! You do now not have to paint anything until you’re like, quite certain you won’t mess up.
Step 3: Safely choose the route you prefer.

(If you fry literally anything at the same time as beets, it turns pink. You can make pink scrambled eggs, it’s great. They used beets to dye fabric back in the day, didn’t they? I keep wondering if it would work on my hair.)
